Local Trail Conditions

**03/03/2026**

Unfortunately we are losing our snow real fast. So we are taking advantage of the weather we have and we’re brush cutting some trails before the ice melts.
Today we widened out the trail just west of Porcupine Lake and part of Dam Brook Trail. This will make a much nicer trail for next season.
Tomorrow we will be going to highway 169 and work our way east a couple miles.

**02/26/2026**

We decided to do some grooming before the weekend. Next week doesn’t look very good at all with temperatures above freezing for 10 days in a row. This might be the last weekend to ride around here until we get more snow.
We did what we could do with the snow we have. Yes there is some bad spots but there’s also some good riding to be had in the wooded areas.
So sadly at this time I highly doubt we will have the groomers out again until we get more snow.
Picture is from sunset last night.

Green is groomed the last 2 days.
Yellow was groomed last Thursday.

**02/25/26**

Just got back from grooming North Mille Lacs Trail. Went that way to knock down some drifts on the ranch road and then decided to go all the way to 169. Conditions are better than I expected. There is some grass in the swamps but it doesn’t take long to get across that. Also some thin spots in the woods. We will see what happens with the warmer weather the next couple days and see if we can sneak in some more light grooming.
Pics are from this morning ranging from best to worst.

**02/20/2026**

After my quick ride checking out the trails yesterday I decided to try a grooming run to see how it goes.
Swamp, Glen Hub and to Malmo got groomed. Obviously there is going to be some bare spots but overall not bad.
The most snow is North and East of Malmo. Hopefully we get more snow soon.

**02/04/2026**

As of today all trails have been groomed. Overall good condition. Looks like it will be cloudy with the warmer temperatures tomorrow. That will help.

**01/28/2026**

As of this morning all of our trails have been groomed. Most trails are in pretty good shape. A few bare spots in areas but overall a good ride.
Hopefully we can get a little more snow here and there to build our base back up.

**01/21/2026**

One nice thing about these cold temperatures is that it makes ice! Enough to finally groom Dam Brook Trail!
Jeff and I took two groomers up that way and got it opened up.
So after tomorrow we will have 100% of our trails groomed.
On the map green is groomed and yellow will be groomed tomorrow.

**01/16/2026**

We received just a dusting of snow overnight. At this time we are going to hold off on grooming until we get more snow.
Have a great weekend.

Quick trail update.
Yesterday we got out to touch up some of the trails before we get the expected snow.
Some sections of the trail turned out well. Some sections were frozen so hard you couldn’t tell you went over it. Which was expected.
So we are going to wait and see how much snow we get today and tomorrow. Then we will take advantage of the new snow to do some grooming.
We will keep you updated.

Green =groomed yesterday
Yellow =groomed last week and some groomed tomorrow.
Red =packed but not groomed yet due to thin ice.

Thank you to everyone that visited our area between Christmas and New Year’s!
Seemed to be a lot of snowmobiles on the trails.
So far the trails are still holding up pretty well considering the weather. Luckily it has been cloudy so the sun hasn’t done much damage. We will see what happens the next two days with the warmer temperatures.
The last few days we have expanded our grooming efforts. Jeff made it all the way down the MM trail to the Soo Line on Sunday. So we have groomed every trail this week except for Dam Brook Trail. This trail still has ice that isn’t thick enough to cross over with the groomers. Depending on conditions we are hoping to groom in from the north and south sides of the thinner ice areas and get most of this trail groomed. We will keep you posted.

**12/30/2025**

the area received 2-6” of snow depending on the location. There is less snow to the north and to the west.
In the Malmo area we had 3-4” so we had enough to do some grooming. We did the right thing by grooming the trails before the rain and warm weather. The trails froze to a pretty smooth and solid base.
Now with the fresh snow most of the trails groomed up pretty well.
We’re still going to give it a few more days before we go over to highway 65 and then to McGrath. There’s a few areas we would like to see more ice before we try to cross over.
In the meantime enjoy what we have groomed and have a safe and Happy New Year’s.

Green is groomed the last 2 days.
Blue will be groomed tomorrow.
Yellow is packed and not groomed.

We got out to check some trails today. The rain didn’t do us any favors. Despite that the trails are better than expected. Yes they are very hard packed and icy, some bare spots in areas but still rideable. The Ranch Road in the picture is the worst that I saw today with quite a bit of dirt. Hopefully we get some snow soon.
Here’s some random pictures from this morning.

Just another day packing swamps!
We went back to Dam Brook trail to pack with the Argo. Some swamps still have very little ice. We even packed the grass in this area the first week of November. The left track broke through the ice and we had to winch out and we were on our way again.
When conditions are right we will groom up to this area from each direction and let this gain more ice.
I hope we don’t get too much rain tonight with this system moving in. We will keep you posted on conditions.

**12/16/2025**

Dean and Jeff took the skandics over to highway 65 and worked their way back to Dam Brook trail. this trail had quite a few trees down. they cut the bigger trees but still have quite a few smaller trees to cut tomorrow. despite packing the swamps with the Argo before the snow, these areas still need a lot more time to freeze. quite a few areas you can’t even walk across the ice yet. they are going to take the argo back out there tomorrow and pack these areas again.  they won’ be able to fully groom this trail for quite a while

**12/11/2025**

We groomed up more trails today. Jeff took the Bombi up the Swamp Trail to T18 and Dean made a run up highway 17. So far the swamps we pre packed before the snow have frozen up well. We will be out again tomorrow.

First grooming of the season! Headed over to 169 and back. Also the Ranch Road and a quick run into Malmo. This snow is grooming up nice.
We will have 2 groomers out tomorrow. We will update on our progress.

**12/09/2025**

Looks like we are getting some good snowfall coming down! Hopefully it adds up by morning.
I know everyone is anxious to get on the trails. If we get some decent snow we should be able to do some grooming. We won’t be able to go everywhere because we need more ice in some of the swamps. Most of our trails are packed and rideable. There’s still some sections that still need to be trimmed with trees bowing over. Yesterday it took two of us 7 hours to open 10 miles of trail. Pretty slow going!
Attached is a map of our trail system.
Yellow = trails packed and passable.
Red= trails not packed.
When we get out grooming we will let you know what trails are ready.
Also we checked Clear Lake today and we only made it out about 50 yards and it was barely 5”. So we did not mark that at this time. Depending on how much snow we get it should be good after the below zero temperatures this weekend.

**12/05/2025**

Another busy day on the trails. We found out that some of our culverts got washed out this summer. We were able to get out there today to fix this area. It’s near a big beaver pond and there’s still flowing water over the trail. A culvert was put back in for now but a small bridge might be a better option in the future. We have approximately 75% of our trails packed. Next week we will be working our way towards McGrath and get those trails ready. There looks to be some snow in the forecast for next week. Depending on how much we get we might be able to groom some of the trails!

**12/03/2025**
Yesterday we got quite a few swamps packed down. this cattail swamp gave the Scandic a workout! one of the toughest I’ve been through! we will be out to pack more today to take advantage of the subzero temperature tomorrow mornings

**12/01/2025**

Today is the day we all have been waiting for!
Trail Opener 2025-2026!!
We ventured out today to pack some swamps around the Porcupine Lake area. We brought the Skandics and the Argo. There’s still a lot of areas that can’t be crossed with snowmobiles. We are hoping to get these wet areas packed in the next couple days before the below zero temperatures kick in at the end of the week.
We will keep you updated on our progress.
**11/29/2025**
Huge thanks to over 30 volunteers for trail clean up and also decorating at the clubhouse.
After a wonderful breakfast at The Grill of Glen everyone split up and did some trail clearing.
Sounds like a few people got stuck with their atvs. Hopefully the cold weather that’s on the way will help freeze some of the swamps.
We will be out all week packing some of these areas.
